Dryad - "Creatures and Cryptids"
My first entry into the book for my project, the Dryad was my test to see how well I could twist typical human anatomy to make something fantastical yet believable. Dryads, in Greek mythology, are typically female tree spirits, youthful in appearance, who look to be made out of wood, and typically have their life force linked to a tree.
My way of presenting this, was to use the grain of wood to mimic joints, having random twigs growing out from her body, to have vines crawling up her, rooted feet and fingers ect.
Done with fine liner and water colour pencil, this took about 1 hour.
