Yours truly basking under a night sky full of stars in the Painted Hills.
I find it imperative with night photography to always have permission to shoot in the areas I venture. I often travel hours away and because of this, I have to do my homework before I visit a location. Sometimes I find something on private property and I have to contact the owner directly and other times it's a park that requires a permit to be there at night. The Painted Hills in particular require a permit (as do the other John Day Fossil Bed Monuments) to be in the park anytime after sunset and before sunrise.
I urge you to please take the same precautions and to respect the lands you choose to recreate in. They are sensitive and they need us to protect them by doing the right thing.
