Jet

Day 27: Jet

Today was another rushed one, I'm afraid. I've been sewing all day!

My girlfriend bought me my first piece of jet the other day. I've been wanting jet for a while to add to my crystal collection.

Jet is a piece of fossilized wood. It's found throughout the world and looks like a solid piece of black stone. When you pick it up, it's much lighter than what you would think it would be, which always catches me off guard.

In the pagan world, jet is very protective. You can wear it to ward off nightmares and other bad energies. When burned, it can banish evil spirits.

It was popular in mourning jewelry in the Victorian period, and wives of viking sailors reportedly carried it as a symbol to protect their husbands when they were at sea.
