Felling the Western Red Cedar

This 45 foot / 13.75metre Thuja occidentalis started to lean dangerously and I got planning permission to have it felled.

It has been there since at least 1923 when the house was built, and is beginning to rot.

The men will be back tomorrow to finish the job. We are leaving an eight foot high 'stump' as a wildlife resource and a means of escape for the foxes to get over the fence, when the dogs chase them!

My summerhouse needs some repair as the shade and damp have cause some damage to the woodwork.
