first instar nymph of a spined assassin bug (sinea diadema)
not any easy capture, so not going to win any awards for being tack sharp - these little monsters don't stay still for long when you're staring down on them w/ a macro rig, there's spikes everywhere making it hard to get the focus right - and the breeze didn't help... but i was happy enough w/ how this one turned out
have some other shots, closer up but w/ a shallower depth of field, which may work for a nightmarish take on this crazy-looking critter...
