L'edificio è dotato di illuminazione LED a colori variabili all'esterno della Rotonda e tra le colonne esterne.
I colori cambiano in base ai diversi eventi che si svolgono in città e altrove.

The current building replaced a previous city hall that was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake, located two blocks from the current one.
The principal architect was Arthur Brown, Jr., whose attention to detail extended to the doorknobs and the typeface used in signage.
The building features variable-color LED lighting outside the Rotunda and between the exterior columns.
The colors change according to different events taking place in the city and elsewhere.
