Misura circa 70 cm di lunghezza e pesa intorno ai 7 kg.
Il mantello è di color grigio, bruno o dorato, con i peli striati di nero, il ventre giallastro.
Gli occhi sono molto grandi e cerchiati di bianco, così come le orecchie.
Il naso è allungato a mo' di proboscide.
Le corna, a forma di spiedo e prerogativa dei maschi, sono seminascoste da una cresta sulla fronte.

It measures about 70 cm in length and weighs around 7 kg.
The coat is grey, brown or golden, with black streaks on the hair, and a yellowish belly.
The eyes are very large and ringed with white, as are the ears.
The nose is elongated like a trunk.
The horns, spit-shaped and a prerogative of the males, are half-hidden by a crest on the forehead.
