Kerameikos.
Un sito archeologico di fondamentale importanza, oltre ad essere il primo cimitero di Atene.
Situato sul lato nord-occidentale dell’Acropoli, lo storico Erodoto definì il luogo con il nome di keramos, ovvero terracotta, in quanto l’area ospitava numerosi laboratori di vasai.
L’area divenne una necropoli intorno al XII secolo a.C., utilizzandola come tale fino al XI secolo durante il periodo romano e bizantino.
Il Kerameikos raccoglie importanti tombe, steli e il suo Museo Archeologico.

An archaeological site of fundamental importance, as well as being the first cemetery in Athens.
Located on the north-western side of the Acropolis, the historian Herodotus defined the place with the name keramos, or terracotta, as the area hosted numerous potter's workshops.
The area became a necropolis around the 12th century BC, using it as such until the 11th century during the Roman and Byzantine periods.
The Kerameikos contains important tombs, stelae and its Archaeological Museum.
