Statua di Seti II
Esempio notevole della statuaria monumentale, questo colosso esprime la stabilità e la forza del sovrano attraverso la solita struttura della muscolatura e la geometricità dei volumi e delle linee.
Rappresentato con la gamba sinistra avanzata per mostrare la capacità del re di camminare e agire, tiene uno stendardo con l’insegna del dio Amon, raffigurato all’estremità superiore. Insieme a un’altra simile oggi conservata al Louvre, questa statua si trovava originariamente davanti all’ingresso di una cappella edificata da Seti II nel gran cortile del tempio di Karnak.

Notable example of monumental statuary, this colossus expresses the stability and strength of the sovereign through the usual structure of the musculature and the geometry of volumes and lines.
Represented with the left leg advanced to show the king's ability to walk and act, he holds a banner with the insignia of the god Amun, depicted at the upper end.
Together with another similar statue now preserved in the Louvre, this statue was originally located in front of the entrance to a chapel built by Seti II in the great courtyard of the Karnak temple.
