Fur Coat

Just a brief departure or intermission of my recent trip to Elk island National park. The last couple of posts showed the thick winter coat of a Plains Bison.

Taken east of Edmonton at The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, a museum showcasing a way of life of Ukrainian pioneers who settled in Alberta. I am not positive, but I believe that the fur coat shown here could be made from a Bison hide. I know that true fur coats are kind of shunned these days, but back in the day, they were likely used for comfort in a cold climate than simply for fashion or to show wealth. That said I would guess that a coat like this would have been expensive.

Let me know if you feel that this may be something other than Bison fur.
