Moose Mom
Well, I am stoked. I headed out looking for one thing and was totally floored to come across a Moose with her calf. They were standing in the middle of a gravel road. I pulled over, but a car was coming from behind me, so I snapped a couple of shots through the windshield (they all sucked, but I'm keeping a couple anyway). As the car approached them they jumped over a fence and made their getaway. I was lucky enough to spot them moments later through an opening in the trees from my car. I ended up with just a few shots of each before they left the scene and no longer locatable.
This is of course the Mom. I was not sure which to post first. this is likely the best shot of the two, but at least for me the calf is awfully special. I don't think I have ever seen one before in real life. Anyway, although it is not as good technically as this one, I have saved it for tomorrow.
It was great getting out after being stuck inside for a few days. Air quality is all over the place today, was at 59 when I left, 85 when I got home and just now at 42, which is just inside of the good range. Maybe I will even put in some work around the yard...nah, perhaps I will just enjoy it from the shade:)
