Beatles Statue, Liverpool

An iconic statue of the Fab Four, in their hometown. The Beatles Statue arrived on Liverpool's Waterfront in December 2015. Donated by the famous Cavern Club, the placement of the statue coincides with the 50 year anniversary of the band's last gig played in Liverpool, at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. It's the city's most popular selfie spot!

The statue is located on the Liverpool Pier Head, opposite the Mersey Ferries Building and in front of the famous Liver building with twin clock towers, each topped with a "Liver bird".

I used an ultrawide 12mm manual focus lens for this shot, which meant I had to get very close to the statue to get this view, but I think it gives a nice perspective. The photo was taken after sunset at blue hour. All of the clouds in the sky completely disappeared, leaving a plain blue sky, adding a graphic appearance against the yellow illumination of the Liver Building and the two flags.
