UP 3094 East

I was up early this AM and had my run completed well before the sun started to change the colors on the horizon. It's the last full day of summer and it's gonna feel like it as we shatter the record today and make a run at 100 degrees.

I was checking things out on the scope when Grumpy texted that Amtrak #4 was at Lawrence and there was a Tier IV EMD on the UP so I got out of the house and promptly watched #4 roll by at De Soto without any sunlight on the nose about maybe 2 minutes before it would have been fully lit. Doh. Even had YMP at the throttle with a friendly salute.

Jumped across the river which is no easy task with the school traffic and the stupid new stoplight at Kill Creek and setup for a shot here at 24.25 for the EMD Tier IV. Good thing I was shooting the nose of this thing, the conductors side looked like every other UP out there. Dirty AF. But it was nice to shoot a train right at sunrise as the shadows were moving east almost as fast as the train was moving.

Yes, I did chase this one just a bit east and popped him with the bird and it's not dirty on the engineers side. That's for later.
