CWRO 1551 EMD SW1500 - Cleveland
A fresh dusting of snow has settled on the ground as a pair of Cleveland Works Railway EMD endcabs make their way through the maze of tracks in the Cleveland Cliffs Cleveland Works with a cut of cars bound for the repair in place tracks near the engine house.
This trip in late November to Cleveland was filled with somber undertones, as my Grandfather had entered hospice care a few days prior. After a day of conversing with him and the rest of the family, I needed a day away to reset and clear my mind. I found a bit of that relaxation in the industrial maze of the Cleveland Flats, not your typical scenic overlook most "normal" people usually go to to get away. Although the weather wasn't favorable, the fresh layer of snow made for some nice shots around the area, and I returned to hospice for dinner feeling a bit better. I had a nice chat with my Grandfather that evening, and told him all about my day out and showed him some of my drone photos. As always, he was excited to see them and support my hobbies. He passed away a few days later, and I will forever cherish the last conversations I had with him; about trains.
