NYSW 3024 EMD SD40-2 - CL-X - Chenango Forks

With snow beginning to fall on a cold and dreary January evening, New York Susquehanna and Western train CL-X diverges onto the Syracuse branch at Chenango Forks on its return run from Cortland - Binghamton. The train is passes vintage searchlights here originally from the D&H.

What started out as a morning on the Southern Tier ended in a ~450 mile day with over 11 hours of driving. After completing our chase of eastbound NS train 264 in Corning, we decided to make our way to Sayre to see if the Lehigh Railway was out and about. While on the way, I got a heads up that the NYSW made the run south to Binghamton and was in the yard working. After a quick check of Sayre we made a beeline to Binghamton where we found a mess of NS traffic clogging up the area. The NYSW uses the NS (old D&H main) for about 1/4 of a mile out of Binghamton to get onto their own tracks, and this was blocked by 265. After about an hour and a half of waiting on NS to swap 265's power, the NYSW pulled over the "New Connection" and helped the crew of 265 arm their marker. They then made the run for home.
