Brands Hatch Masters Historic Festival DAY 2 30/05/21
DAY 2 Of Brands Hatch and the Masters Historic Festival. After a fantastic day of Qualifying on the Saturday it was time for each driver to turn up the Heat and head out onto the Race track ready to put their machinery to the test and see who will come out victorious in each of their respective categories.
Gentlemen Drivers-Race 1
The Gentlemen Drivers Race saw a lot of action thought the 90 minutes of track action with many different cars and drivers taking part.
In First Place was (James Cottingham) in his Shelby Cobra with a best lap time of 1:43.987 a Lap that even Carol Shelby would have been Proud to see.
In Second Place was (J Pearson and Brundle A) in their shared Jaguar E Type with a best lap time of 1:43.509. That Jag really knows how to roar around the Grand Prix Circuit.
In Third Place was (Spears J and Needell T) in their shared TVR Griffith 200 with a best lap time of 1:44.352 An Impressive Lap for the Griffith Engine.
An Amazing Race for the Gentlemen Drivers Series and no doubt their will be even more battles to look forward to as the season progresses.
Equip Libre-Race 2
Equip Libre saw a lot of action taking place during Qualifying with al different cars trying to achieve Pole Position for this Race. From MGB GT'S to Jaguar E Types taking part.
In First Place was (Tom Smith) in his MGB with a best lap time of 1:52.526. British Leyland would have been proud to see that Car Win.
In Second Place was (Alison C and Thompson P) in their shared Shelby Cobra with a best lap time of 1:50.621. Carol Shelby would have been looking down and smiling over that one.
In Third Place was (Willmott J and Willmott H) in their shared Austin Healey 3000 with a best lap time of 1:52.576. That Healey looked to be flying around the Grand Prix Circuit.
Every Driver Looked to be pushing hard this year so lets see what else the season brings.
Masters Endurance Legends-Race 2
The Masters Legends always bring a lot of noise and excitement to the Grand Prix circuit and to see them once again after so long was a real treat for all Motorsport fans alike. Lets see what Happened during the Race.
In First Place was (Steve Tandy) in his Lola Judd B12/60 with a best lap time of 1:23.217. Eric would have been cracking open a beer in celebration seeing his car cross that finish line.
In Second Place was (Shaun Lynn) in his BR01 with a best lap time of 1:23.433 A Tremendous effort especially during those times on track trying to catch and pass Steve Tandy.
In Third Place was (Mike Newton) in his MG Lola EX257 with a best lap time of 1:27.178 The colour and the livery design of this car is just so stunning to look at. Definitely one of Eric Broadly's Best.
A Really Amazing Race to watch with every driver pushing their Machinery Hard and trying to achieve that points finish. This season is turning out to be one of the History books.
Masters historic Formula 1-Race 7
The Formula 12 cars of the 60's 70's and 80's were about to head out onto the circuit and from the loud revving of the engines in the pitlane it sounded like these Guys were ready for some serious Competition between each other. Lets see what happened.
In First Place was (Steve Hartley) with his McLaren MP4/1with a best lap time of 1:23.009. James Hunt would have smiled and said now that's how you are meant to drive this car.
In Second Place was (Lukas Halusa) in his McLaren M23 with a best lap time of 1:25.563 James Hunt would have really been joyful about seeing a McLaren 1-2 finish on the podium together.
In Third Place was (Mark Hazell) in his Williams FW08C with a best lap time of 1:26.013. Frank would have thought who is that lunatic driving one of our cars.
A Really Amazing Race for the Historic Formula 1 Championship and a real showing of just how powerful and capable these cars of their era were. Lets hope that each drier can push hard this season and see who will be the bravest and fastest in terms of wining the Championship.
Historic Sports Cars-Race 6
Historic Sports Cars were up next and it was time to see what the Cars of the Sports 60's-70's could get up to on the Grand Prix circuit. With Powerful V8'S and V6 Engines the Grid was shaping up to be a really Epic Race of Power Ability and Talent to Tame these beasts.
In First Place was (Alex Brundle) in his Lola T70MK3B with a best lap time of 1:30.550. Eric would have raised a Glass or two to that Magical Victory and very well deserved Win.
In Second Place was (Nick Sleep/Martin Stretton in their shared LolaT70MK3 putting in a best lap time of 1:32.184 Another Really Proud moment for Broadly seeing tow of his creations coming Frist and Second.
In Third Place was (Henry Fletcher) in his Chevron B19 with a best Lap time of 1:32.094 Avery Strong and Powerful Drive thought the Race From Henry.
Amazing Drives from each Driver and a well deserved Win for Alex Brundle. Hoping to see more of him behind the wheel taming that Beast as the season progresses.
Masters Pre 66 Touring Cars-Race 4
Touring Cars from Pre 66 were up next and this series of Race cars were really going to be showing what it was like during the time of the Early Touring Car Era. From Falcons to Cortina's and much more. What Happened? Lest find out.
In First Place was (Thomas j and Lockie C) in their Ford Falcon with a best lap time of 1:48:064 That Falcon was flying and Ford would have been proud to see one of their Cars take the Victory.
In Second Place was (David Conyne) in his Ford Mustang with a best lap time of 1:49.156 A very Fast and Respectable Drive from David really showing what the Mustang is capable off.
In Third Place was (Roy Alderslade) in his Lotus Cortina with a best alp time of 1:49.373 Colin Chapman would have been very pleased to see his car once again on the podium and being raced like it should be Raced.
An Awesome Race for the Pre 66 Touring Cars and a very well deserved Victory for Thomas and Lockie who drove like mad in order to Win the Race. Lest hope that they can keep this sort of Speed up thought the Remainder of the Season.
Pre 66 Mini's-Race 11
The Mini's were once again back at Brands Hatch and during their time out in Qualifying were putting in some respectable lap times thought the Session. Now it was time for the Race and to see who would be Victorious on the track and who would loose out.
In First Place was (Ian Curley) In his Austin Mini Cooper S with a best lap time of 1:49.811 He really knows how to take a Mini to the edge and More when it comes to being behind the wheel.
In Second Place was (Ollie Streek) in his Austin Mini Cooper S with a best lap time of 1:50.399 Another Very Fast and Capable Lap during the Race and a really tight battle with Ian Curley at the front as well thought.
In Third Place was (Page J/Page M) In their Austin Mini Cooper S with a best lap time of 1:51.422. Still some work to be done but a very commendable effort by both and a really well driven race too.
A Fantastic Day of Pre 66 Mini's and a very well done to Ian who put on an incredible show batting with the likes of Ollie thought the Course of the Race. Hope to see more of this action as the season continues.
A Huge Congratulations to all of the Race Winners and a very big well done to those who finished Second and Third. Keep pushing hard and cant wait to see it all again next year were maybe we may have some new Winners and Champions in the Mist waiting to be Crowned.
