Dwarf Faction War Machine: Steam Wagon

Steam Wagon:

Dwarves, ever the ingenious and inventive race, have been tinkering and developing many different forms of steam power throughout the centuries. One of the first breakthrough discoveries in dwarven culture, even older than the famed gunpowder, was steam power and has been a staple in the industrious life of the mountain folk. Historically used to power mining and smithing machines, it did not take long for the power of steam to be tested on the battlefield.

One fateful day, when a certain dwarf by the name of Sturgi Stumpstone was laboring in the mines of a new mountain hold, the crew he was assigned with was viciously attacked by a band of ruthless crag goblins. All dwarves have a tenacity for battle, so when the vile goblin creatures assailed them, Sturgi, who was an engineer by day and tinkerer by night, fought bravely side by side with his fellow clansdwarfs.

In a last-ditch effort to stem the flow of goblins, Sturgi tossed a mining charge into one of the steam powered pick machines. With a resounding noise like thunder and a hiss like a dragon, the steam machine exploded, dousing the goblin band in a torrent of fire hot steam, vanquishing them instantly.

This piqued Sturgi Stumpstone’s curiously, and before too long he developed a steam backpack that could be carried into battle. Not nearly carrying the devastating power that Sturgi wanted, he quickly outfitted a wagon with a steam barrel, engine, cogs, pipes and all manners of tinkerers materials to create a truly awe inspiring war machine.

The Steam Wagon is pulled hastily across the battlefield by the sure footed and stubborn Mountain Rams that the dwarves tame as livestock. An engineer stands atop the stout war machine, wielding his sight-scopes and the release valve for the steam.

When the right distance is found and the correct amount of temperature and pressure is applied to the steam, the engineer will release his torrent of death upon the foe, melting skin from bone and armor from frame. Able to douse dozens of enemies with its deadly spray, the Steam Wagon is a perfect tool for clearing the infantry lines of the foe. The engineer must be a proficient driver as well as machine operator, for the task of properly maneuvering his beloved war machine is paramount to the shocking success of the Steam Wagons jet of carnage.
