Dwarf Faction Rare Unit: Rune Guard
Rune Guard:
Dwarves do not practice the many forms of magic that can be found amongst the other races of Warscape. They disdain it as a weak and cheating form of combat, preferring the hard steel and stalwart iron made in their foundries to achieve victory. They are naturally immune to the effects of different magics, and have developed a resistance to the spells they combat in battle. However, they are not completely impervious to all forms of magic, for like all living things, they can be effected by spells, even if it is only the most strongly crafted of magics.
For this reason, the Runesmiths of the dwarven race have infused the magical energies into their hammercraft. They use these runes in battle to bolster their weapons and armor, deflect enemy spells, and provide magical energies to their allies. These Runesmiths, however, are susceptible in close quarters combat, and because of this units of Rune Guard have been deployed to defend their beloved runes of power.
The Rune Guard are the elite veterans of the many dwarven clans, chosen from their clan and given the honor of earning a place in the Rune Guard. They have proven their worth in battle and are among some of the most skilled dwarves in the army throng.
They stand sentinel outside of the revered vaults of the Runesmiths, silently guarding the mighty runes. They wield masterfully crafted war hammers etched with runes of strength and crushing and their armor is made of the stoutest of steel. They adorn themselves in runic reds and wear capes that signify their position.
Stalwart defenders of the revered runes of the dwarven race, the Rune Guard are a feared force on the battlefield. They sweep their long hammers in wide arcs, crushing the life out of their foes with impressive strength. Silently delivering doom to their enemies, the Rune Guard have become famous for their feats in combat.
