Holy Land Faction Regular Unit: Polearms
Polearms:
When the king of the Holy Land calls the knights and nobles to his banner, they answer the call with bravery and religious fervor. They form great campaigns to strike at the heart of the forces of evil, holy crusades to relinquish the sickly hold on the world of men. These knights and nobles flock to the king, accompanied by their Men-at-Arms and peasants. These soldiers form the bulwark of any campaign and form in lines thousands of strong.
Although these lines and lines of sword and pitchfork wielding soldiers are adequate against other forms of infantry, they are poorly suited for defense against cavalry. For this reason, the king of the Holy Land has created and controls the Polearms.
The Polearms are the only true line-infantry soldier in the Holy Land armies. Trained from youth to serve in the kings own armies, the Polearms practice day and night in their line defense. Yielding long crafted pikes, these soldiers are excellent at keeping enemy cavalry bay. They thrust forward in several lines, able to strike at the enemy from multiple points. They are adorned in the kings own colors and sigil.
During battle, the king will deploy his Polearms to assist the foot infantry of the knights and nobles. Whether it be on the flank of the line to stop oncoming mounted soldiers, or interspersed throughout the center to hinder enemy movements, the Polearms are an effective counter that is effectively used as a staunch defense.
