Panting Desert Lark (Ammomanes deserti), Tulul adh-Dhahab, Jordan

This attractive Lark was not singing when I took this shot; I am assuming it was somehow ventilating... 38 C (100 F) in the sun and I had walked about 750 m (about a half mile) from the road where I parked, up the right bank of the Zarqa River where it crosses the road from Borma down to the Jordan River Valley... according to Google Earth, I was at -132 m (-433 ft) BSL (below sea level) and not yet all the way down to the Jordan River Valley.

I was baking... the end of a six hour birding day at 11:15 AM... no Golden Hour lighting at this spot... do I really have to get up at 4:30 AM here? I already know the answer to that question...

I planned this birding trip along the Zarqa River from up near Jerash down to the Jordan River Valley north of the Dead Sea.... driving, walking, driving walking... not many birds yesterday... but a bad day birding is still better than a good day at... :-)
