Olnetop
By Belgian artist Nick Ervinck (Roeselare 1981) - 2012
A permanent, public sculpture on display on the beach in Westende-Bad, as part of the Beaufort Sculpture Park.
It is an abstract, hybrid form, inspired by macro photographs of splashing seawater and the natural dynamics of waves crashing against the breakwaters. Some describe it as “monstrous”.
Although it was designed digitally, it was crafted by hand from polyester and steel, making it physically tangible.
The name “olnetop” itself is not a real word, but a title given to the work by the artist.
