It was built at the beginning of the 18th century in the very early 1700's. There was a fire in the front of the sanctuary near the narthex at one point. However, the fire mysteriously stopped when it reached the very large and very old iconic painting of St. Christopher that was standing on the wall close to the front door. St. Christopher is believed by all major Orthodox and Catholic Christian faiths to be the patron saint of protection. The icon is burned badly on one side, only along the edge of the frame, but nothing more. Obviously, the church remains very much intact with no damage visible. Very interesting and amazing to see.
