Majestic St. Andrew's Church was built on the express order of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna to the 1748 design of outstanding Russian architect Bartholomeo Rastrelli to honor the Apostle Andrew who legends says came to this hill overlooking the Dniper and planted a cross for Christ there.
