Barcas al atardecer

Desde hace siglos, estas embarcaciones de vela latina fueron las protagonistas del día a día del litoral valenciano. Pero si hay un lugar donde la vela latina fue la reina, este es l’Albufera. Los habitantes de los municipios bañados por el lago utilizaban estas embarcaciones para todo tipo de actividades, desde la pesca, la caza o el cultivo del arroz hasta el transporte, pasando por otras más ilícitas como el contrabando.

 

Su fondo plano permitía incluso que navegasen en sitios poco profundos, del mismo modo que su longitud de cinco metros permitía a los navegantes pasar por sitios estrechos como canales o pasillos llenos de vegetación.

 

 

For centuries, these Latin sailing boats were the protagonists of the daily life of the Valencian coast. But if there is a place where the Latin candle was the queen, this is l'Albufera. The inhabitants of the municipalities bathed by the lake used these boats for all kinds of activities, from fishing, hunting or rice cultivation to transportation, through other more illicit ones such as smuggling.

 

Its flat bottom even allowed them to navigate in shallow places, just as its five-meter length allowed navigators to pass through narrow sites such as canals or corridors full of vegetatio
