CPKC in Uptown Houston
The hottest trains on the southern end of CPKC's system in the US are the 180/181 intermodals, running between the Midwest and central Mexico. Their schedules must not be too restrictive though, as recently CPKC has been filling-in the train with manifest traffic on the head-end.
Like here, with a curious cut of baretables on the head-end of this high-priority train, is a view of 180 rolling through the west side of Houston, TX. On the head-end is CP 8108, a AC4400 rebuilt in 2017 and given CPKC paint in December 2024.
In the distance is the skyline of Uptown Houston, known as "The Galleria" since the area hosts the shopping mall of the same name (which is the second largest in the US). The largest building, to the left, is Williams Tower. At 64 stories tall, it's the 4th tallest building in Texas and the tallest skyscraper in the world outside of a central business district.
180 (Intermodal- Chicago, IL to San Luis Potosí, MX)
