Rock Empties at Bellaire Jct

With an elephant-style trio of GEVOs, an empty rock train rolls quickly through west Houston on the Sunset Route.

This location was formerly known as Bellaire Jct, where SP's Bellaire Branch broke off to the west as an alternate to the Sunset Route to Eagle Lake, about 55 miles away. The line was abandoned by UP in 2000 and torn up shortly thereafter. And while part of the ROW was converted to a toll road (Westpark Tollway), a 50 ft strip of land was preserved for future transit use via bus or rail.
