TPIX 3033 - Mechanical Reefer

With both a faded logo and faded graffiti, TPIX 3033 is one of the first deliveries of Tropicana's order of nearly 300 mechanical reefers built by Millennium Rail starting in 2000. These modern reefers now handle nearly all of Tropicana's rail business, replacing the variety of railcars built by FGE and PCF.

Tropicana's fleet of reefers deliver orange juice from plants in Bradenton & Ft Pierce, FL out to New Jersey, Cincinatti, and southern California. While at one point they ran in unit trains to Ohio & NJ, economic shifts have resulted in the reefers now riding on intermodal trains and manifests.

This particular reefer is returning empty to Florida from City of Industry, CA. These cars once rode on UP Z Trains to and from California, but PSR service changes now see these cars routed through manifest service.
