SP H2 Searchlights
Installed more than 50 years ago, these US&S relics served faithfully for many years under the Southern Pacific and now Union Pacific. Unfortunately the control point that these signals protect, Niles Jct in Houston, is slated to get replacement signals in the near future. But for now it's easy to stare in awe at these sentinels, as they serve to protect Sunset Route train movements under fast-moving clouds on a warm Texas evening.
These US&S H2's would finally come down in June 2025.
