UNESCO Heritage St. St. John's Basilica

Hz. The tomb of St. John (St. Jean Theologos), the youngest apostle of Jesus and also one of the writers of the Bible, and the basilica built on it, according to Christian belief, the Prophet on the cross. Jesus entrusted his mother to his favorite and youngest apostle John.

It is accepted that the Apostle John came to Ephesus with the Virgin Mary in 37-48 AD, lived and died here. After he died, he was buried in Ayasuluk Hill in accordance with his will. With the spread of Christianity, first a mausoleum, and later a basilica was built on it.

St. St. John's Basilica is the largest religious building built after the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus. It is on the UNESCO List.
