Calculating body fat and more

The other name of body fat is Adipose tissue and contradicting what we know. Fat serves a number of important features in our body like storing lipids, secreting a number of hormones and making energy for our body. But excess of anything is bad, fat in excess leads to overweight and later turns into obesity.

 

Now how do you calculate body fat?

 

First measure yourself as mentioned below:

 

1. Measure your waist circumference in a horizontal way across the navel.

2. Measure your neck circumference.

3. Measure hip circumference, this is particular for women only..

 

For calculating body fat you can use the formula below and check:

 

Men body fat calculator: 495/ (1.0324-0.19077(LOG (waist-neck)) +0.15456(LOG (height)))-450

 

Women body fat calculator: 495/ (1.29579-0.35004(LOG (waist+hip-neck)) +0.22100(LOG (height)))-450
