Commonly happens to women, varicose veins comes about when the veins turn out to be enlarged, stretched and overfilled with blood. Typically appears on the lower legs, i.e. calf muscle; it looks bluish-purple or red in color with swollen and raised skin surface and is painful too.
About 25% of the adults suffer from this condition. If you too have varicose veins, try the following steps to improve blood circulation:
1.Wearing compression stockings is the first approach to try before other treatments. These stockings are sold at most pharmacies and medical supply stores, just get the right size.
2.Walking is a great way to get the blood circulating in your legs. Enquire your doctor about an appropriate activity level for you.
3.While sitting or lying down, elevate your legs above the level of your heart. Do this three or four times daily for 10 to 15 minutes.
4.Don’t sit or stand for long periods. Change your position frequently. During long car trips, stop to take a brief walk and on flights walk through the cabin about once every hour.
5.Don’t sit with your legs crossed. Remember to wear your compression stockings while traveling.
6.Watch what your wear, strictly no high heels. Tight dresses can restrict circulation, so it is better to avoid tight wears.
7.Control your weight as being overweight puts extra pressure on your veins which you don’t want.
