Moles: A Sign of Your Destiny or Something More..!!!
Moles are flat or raised marks found on the human body comprised of skin cells that have grown in a group rather than individually. Previously it was considered as a sign of one’s destiny in Indian and Chinese astrology. It is usually inborn or appears within 4 years of life but can even evolve. An adult can have around 10 to 40 moles by adulthood.
The frequent question is what causes moles and how does it affect us. They are usually of 2 types, Congenital nevi (the one that appears on birth) and Dysplastic nevi (hereditary ones usually bigger and irregular than usual ones). Below are listed the causes of moles:
i.It is caused when cells in the skin, called melanocytes, grow in clusters or clumps.
ii.Direct exposure of our skin to sunlight is a major reason
Moles get darker during pregnancy and puberty time.
iii.Moles are usually harmless but can be a major problem in few rare cases causing Cancer called malignant melanoma. This kind of cancer can be fatal if the mole is removed at the early stage not allowing it to spread.
