1976 Aston Martin V8 (Series 3) - IMG_5187 - Edited

This delightful vintage Aston Martin V8 is one of just 4,021 cars that were entirely hand-built during the model's 20 year production run (1969 - 1989). Each car reportedly took 1200 man hours to construct. This example was built in 1976, making it a Series 3 model - one of only 976 Series 3 coupes built between 1973 and 1978.

As with all Aston Martin V8 cars, it is powered by a 5.3 litre (325 cubic inch) V8 petrol engine, producing an estimated 315 horsepower at the crank. The Series 3 models had their engines carburetted, utilising four twin-choke Weber carburettors (hence the tall hood scoop required to house them); prior models were fitted with a Bosch mechanical fuel injection system, but this system had reliability and emissions issues. This particular example used a 3-speed Chrysler Torqueflite automatic transmission, but there was a 5-speed ZF manual synchromesh gearbox if you wanted to buy a manual.

It looks in really good shape for a 45 year old car. I'd have loved to have been able to get a bit closer and got some shots from different angles, but it was in the forecourt of a local garage (auto repair shop), and I don't think they'd have been open to letting me do that.
