In 1972, the C&NW was using commuter F units on the weekends to run trains west and north out of Chicagoland. Here is an eastbound on a Sunday returning the F's back to Proviso yard so that the F's could be back in time to be in position to run the commuter trains on Monday. Aug. 1972
