War memorial, Peebles, Scotland

This war memorial in the quiet, pretty Scottish Border town commemorates those who died on active service during WW1.

At that time the entire male population of the town was only 2257, and a full 10% of them died. Devastating for the community.

Those who died in the Second World War are also commemorated here.
