Alan Turing

He was one of the top British wartime experts breaking the German communication codes. He was also the man who invented the first stored-programme computer, which eventually led to those we use today.

The work done by him and thousands of others during 1939-1945 and beyond remained a total secret for decades.

The story of how he and his colleagues broke into the German codes forms the basis of the film "The imitation game"

This statue of Turing can be seen inside the original Bletchley Park centre where he and thousand of others worked, which attracts more than 200,000 visitors each year.

Poor lighting forced me to use a 1/2 second hand-held exposure.
