Summer on the River

This is an unprotected shoreline of the Rappahannock River in Virginia. The foreground is protected by riprap. The far shoreline is left natural. You can see that the trees are being undercut by the high tides, winds and storms. The trees eventually die and fall down and more land is claimed by the river.
