Defunct Boathouse

Just for comparison purposes (see my last photo), this is a picture of a boathouse that was not well cared for. This is why boathouses can no longer be built on the waterways. They hinder the beautiful view of the river and become hazards to boaters. Storms strip the shelters of their boards, which can float down the river and be hit by a boat. They do provide places for Ospreys to build their nests though.

This old boathouse is located on the Rappahannock River in Lancaster County, Virginia.
