Cold Feet
Actually, ducks do have cold feet!
As blood is supplied to the feet through arteries, some of the heat is exchanged with colder blood returning from the veins. This reduction in temperature of the blood supplied to the feet servers to reduce the amount of heat lost to the environment. The physics is all about delta's - the lower the temperature gradient between the ducks foot and the cold water, the lower the heat loss. Here is an article that provides a good explanation.
