The Heart of Virgo

Part of our local group, the Virgo cluster is a large concentration of galaxies which forms the heart of the Virgo cluster. The cluster is a more that 50 million light years away and contains over 1200 individual galaxies. Near the image center is an arch of galaxies know as Markarian's Chain.
