Recruits with Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, execute Marine Corps Martial Arts Program techniques during a MCMAP class at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, April 23. The recruits are taught basic self-defense to prepare them for close combat encounters. Annually, more than 17,000 male recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate June 29.
