Himalayan Balsam - Impatiens glandulifera. Parc Slip, Aberkenfig, South Wales, 2021-10-06.

This particular plant has an interesting history and is not native to the United Kingdom. It was introduced here as a garden plant in 1839 and first recorded wild in 1855. Despite its aesthetic appearance it is very invasive and is now considered a serious problem here which has resulted in legislation that forbids its cultivation. Many areas where it grows need to be managed due to its prolific tendency to spread.
