Common Drone Fly (Eristalis tenax) 2021-08-09. Aberkenfig, South Wales

Another frequent hoverfly visitor to my garden. The wing patterns (venation) show up quite well, especially the spurious vein. It is also referred to as the false or floating vein and is one of the features used to confirm that the species belongs to the hoverfly family.
