Betelgeuse α (Alpha) Orionis 2019-11-09
Aberkenfig, South Wales
Lat +51.542 Long -3.593
Skywatcher 254mm Newtonian Reflector, Olympus E410 at prime focus. EQ6 Syntrek Mount.
10 light frames of 20s & 10 light frames of 40s at 800 ISO. Also 10 dark frames.
Processed with Deep Sky Stacker and final levels adjusted with G.I.M.P.
Very little enhancement with the saturation as the colour was quite evident on the initial captures. The diffraction spikes were not added.
The sky was relatively clear for most of the early hours this particular night to capture enough useful frames for stacking. As dawn approached thickening cloud filled the sky and by daylight the inevitable rain had returned.
The image displays coma towards the edges. This is is one drawback of a parabolic f/4.8 Newtonian without a coma corrector.
