Grass Snake 2017-10-03. Parc Slip, Aberkenfig, South Wales

Luckily, I managed to capture it motionless on the cycle path, in the pale Autumn sun. I was about 3.5 metres away, without making my presence known. Grass snakes usually move very quickly if disturbed. For a brief few minutes it rested on the cycle path before slowly moving into the undergrowth. Earlier the same day I was also very fortunate to find an adder just off a walkway in another part of the reserve.
