From the Platinum Jubilee Celebration - God Save the Queen.
The biscuits, finger sandwiches, chocolates and teas are gone. Conversation with Colonial Secretariat friends ended. I finished singing "God Save the Queen" and am left with this centre piece cradled in Royal Doulton china. Beautiful though the flowers are, it's time to start thinking about a Referendum on Canada's future. Shall we become a Republic when Prince Charles ascends the throne or remain a Constitutional Monarchy tied to a British colonial past? Question to which I don't yet have a definitive answer in my own mind, but would like it thought through national wide.
