DXB 5108 and 5016 head train 243 south between Linton and Tokomaru

The DX class was built by General Electric's Erie, PA plant and entered service from 1972. From 1988 the DX class received a series of modifications and with new motors and Brightstar fitted were classified DXB and DXC. Virtually the whole class is now confined to South Island trains with the occasional loco making a shake down run in North Island after a workshop overhaul.
