Damn Terminal
People love to complain how CSX can take forever to move anything in the Atlanta terminal. Believe me when I say NS is more than capable of equally, if not greater than, screwing you over with the one train you & everyone else wants. In this case, you think you’re going to get a fantastic afternoon chase of an empty Scherer coal train with one of the few BNSF SD70MAC’s that’s equipped with PTC. It also has the added bonus of recently being “tagged” with the BN logo on the nose, with Atlanta being lucky to get it on its first train after having its nose job when it got assigned to a loaded counterpart. But a course, the terminal dispatcher had other plans since they decided to literally run every other train within 100 miles it felt like around them. As a result, it took a fresh crew 4 hours to travel the grand distance of 1.2 miles, resulting in this being the only spot with decent light before it got dark. Gawd, I hate this terminal. 12-18-23
