Viewing this family farm home from high on Steptoe Bute, I cannot help but wonder what it would be like to live the life of a farmer. Thomas Jefferson thought independent living on a family farm was the key to a virtuous life and he wanted as many people as possible to own their own land in sufficient amount to support this kind of life.. Perhaps because I have grandparents who were farmers, part of me feels a bit nostalgic about what seems like a wonderful life, close to nature and the earth. I am sure, however, that these farmers are some of the hardest workers around, but the rewards seem plenty.
