The Roman hills of Lancashire

The incredibly beautiful terraced gardens of Rivington may appear on a sunny day to have been constructed thousands of years ago by that Empire sprung of Rome, but they were infact built a mere hundred years ago by British Industrial Soal magnate Lord Leverhulme for his Rivington estate.

 

The gardens are now open to the public and are a fantastic walk which I highly recommend!
